Model Answer

The importance of setting an appropriate goal is not unknown to anyone, as an aimless life cannot bring any good. However, teenagers are often seen to choose their goals personally, which, in my opinion, should not be much encouraged. I steadfastly disagree with the provided statement that teenagers should have complete freedom to decide on their future aim.

At the very outset, teenagers pass their juvenile period and therefore are not experienced enough about the harsh reality of life. Setting a future goal of their own is not a mere game of a child. There are many significant factors to consider such as precision and value of the aim in their life. As they do not have much experience, they might fall into the trap and deviate from their aim.

Additionally, teenagers need to learn a lot before taking decisions. Here, good advice from experienced people can, in fact, make a big difference. For instance, many people want all their life to be doctors or engineers though they have very poor knowledge of science. Later on, their guardians play a significant role and guide them which make them successful. Good advice virtually changes their life.

Besides, taking a decision of setting future career is a very risky matter. It is just like fishing in a pond where fishes are really difficult to find. Only the experienced people with the greatest skills can help these novice guys. This is why; suggestions from the elders, the guardians should be the priority so that they cannot be misguided.

Many would opine that this is like taking away freedom from someone. I respect freedom of choice and there are many pieces of evidence of successful teenagers. However, I believe that consultation with senior members and relatives may bring much better result.

To sum up, setting an aim in life can be quite tricky for teenagers. So, complete freedom might provoke their confidence to destruction. Rather, discussion with experienced people, family members, and close ones is undoubtedly a preferable option.
