PART 1

Basic questions about Clothes

Where do you buy most of your clothes? Why?

Answer: I generally buy most of my clothes from a local superstore. It’s because I like the range of colors and designs which they offer in this particular place.

How often do you buy new clothes for yourself? Why?

Answer: Not so much, to be honest. I buy new clothes once or twice a year. Or, I buy it in extreme emergencies. It’s because I am not actually a shopaholic or much fashion concerned. I only fulfill my basic demands.

How do you decide which clothes to buy? Why?

Answer: In most cases, I try to have a good look at the material. I don’t mind the colors much.  But the material needs to be skin-friendly to me. I do it because I have skin issues.

Have the kinds of clothes you like changed in recent years? Why? / Why not?

Answer: Yes, I think it has. I use to wear overcoats or suits in winter. I really adore some of them. But recently, the tailoring of the clothes and even the way people wear them have changed sharply. I think, nowadays people of my country follow other foreign nations which have contributed to this change.

Part 2

Model answer

I’ve recently had a long and very wise conversation with one of my colleagues about how I spend my money. It was really an interesting experience and I’d like to share it with you. The person is senior to me in my office. My cubicle is just next to him. Every worker, even the owner of the company values his opinion with tremendous importance. He is an account officer who has been working in this company for around 12 years. He is very experienced in life. So, he gave me some serious pep talk.

He shared some of his good and bad experiences of work and life regarding financial matters. He told me that he had a major responsibility in maintaining the financial issues of the office. So, he paid complete attention to what he does. He knew that trust of people fluctuates rapidly. So, he always maintained extreme caution about it. Thus, he learned how to cut unnecessary expenses of the office and invest the money in the welfare of the workers, and make further investments.

His advice for me to deal with my expense was very straightforward and simple. He knew that I was not so good at saving money. So, one recommendation from him was to put away a small figure of my income per month, no matter how difficult it might seem. He helped me to understand that I needed to save money to face anything unexpected or emergency, or I would face a serious problem in the future and might not handle it if I was not prepared then. Interestingly, he gave a name to that kind of savings which was “clever financing”.

He also taught me how to think forward about upcoming spending and plan it well. To him, planning might help a person to erase some unnecessary spending from the mind. It also helped me a lot in minimizing some needless spending and I learned much about real-life situations. I was surprised that the result of the discussion actually paid me the dividend.

It was an incredibly functional conversation that I made with him. He took a long time to confer about the recommendations with me. Not only they were useful to me, but also I got some innovative ideas that I use nowadays and benefit from them.

Thank you.

Part 3

Further questions on Money and young people

Why do some parents give their children money to spend each week?

Answer: Well, there might be different reasons. Some parents are quite affirmative about their children. They think that the kids will spend the money wisely. Others might feel that their children need to be happy. So, they just give money to the kids to make them happy. It depends on how they approach their children.

Do you agree that schools should teach children how to manage money?

Answer: Of course, and I think it is a better way. Sometimes, the children may not listen to their parents but their teachers in the school have a great influence on them which the guardians can use as a wonderful tool to teach them how to manage money.

Do you think it is a good idea for students to earn money while studying?

Answer: I do not necessarily think so unless they are in a dire situation. You know, earning money can be a very hard and distracting agent to study. You become tired to earn money and cannot go further with your education. Also, it can be a lure that may mislead you to get obsessed with it. However, many students not only earn money but also study regularly. It is because they are in dire need of it and they understand the value of both money and education.

Further questions on money and society

Do you think it is true that in today’s society, money cannot buy happiness?

Answer: I would rather oppose this idea. I think money is one of the most influential and key factors of leading a happy life. Without having a good amount of money you cannot survive. It serves as a bridge between human life and happiness. Undoubtedly, other factors like satisfaction and being content are also important, but money is the most significant among all the factors. If you are rich, you can lead a life of happiness for sure.

What disadvantages are there in a society where the gap between rich and poor is very large?

Answer: If such a gap is a large one, society will surely fail in its purpose. Man created the system of society to be together and work as a unified force. If the gap between rich and poor is large, chaos and terror will spread because one day the poor will refuse to accept the gap. Thus, a chaotic situation will surely arise and the rich will be a small group who cannot defend against such rebellion.

Do you think richer countries have a responsibility to help poorer countries?

Answer: Absolutely, they have a responsibility to come forward for the betterment of the poorer countries. If they do it properly, the gap between the rich and the poor will decline sharply. Ultimately, society will become a suitable, much happier, and wonderful place to live in. The poor will regain faith in humanity. Thus, the countries will come closer to each other and cooperation will prevail.
