Let’s take a look at the notes:

Model Answer:

I can talk about different kinds of emails which I’ve received in different circumstances. But not all of them are notable. There are a few emails which I recall all the time. For this topic card, I’m going to talk about an email that I received about two years ago. In my opinion, this may be one of the most favorite moment of my life because this email was from a university where I wanted to get admitted for a one-year course and through that email, the authority confirmed that they accepted me as their student.

I remember that I got the mail about two years ago on a Sunday morning. Before that, I had already applied in a number of top universities in Europe to get admitted in a year-long course on arts and crafts. Though I had desired for this email for a long time, I was expecting no quick response because they generally take a lot of time to consider an application from any foreign country. My first few choices were Bristol University, Whitechapel College, University of the Arts London, Glasgow School of Arts, University of Lisbon etc. But none of them were replying to me. So, I was beginning to be frustrated. My cousins in Turkey, however, were optimistic about my admission. They advised me not to send any more emails for an inquiry. On that Sunday morning I was having a chat with some of my cousins in Istanbul and suddenly I found a notification from Google mail on my laptop.

My heart started pounding as I saw the sender’s address as the University of Lisbon. When I opened my Gmail account, I became ecstatic to find that the university had approved me as one of their few international students in Arts and Crafts course which would start just after three months from that time. They also sent me some instructions on what to do next and how to plan my trip from Turkey to Lisbon. I was really happy that they suggested me some best options for flights and arranged my reception in Lisbon Airport. I was so happy that I started crying.

I consider this email as one of my best and probably one of the most important moments of my whole life. It is because this email changed my life completely. Today I’m working as an Arts and Crafts teacher in Middle East Technical University in Turkey and getting a handsome salary with the greatest respect as a teacher. This was my dream job. All of this happened because the University of Lisbon accepted me as their student. The confirmation mail may be a small one, yet it is one of the most significant mails in my life.

This is the end of the answer.

For this cue card topic, you can talk about one of the following emails or the one of your own:

1.     Letter or email from a dear friend.
2.    Letter from a college about the confirmation of scholarship
3.    Email from a friend from a foreign country.
4.    Letter from a family member whom you have not seen for a long.

5.    Email that confirms your acceptance in a scholarship program.
6.    Email from your company that confirms your promotion.
7.    Email about your job confirmation from a company.
8.   Letter from the Embassy/consulate that confirms your Visa to a foreign country.
9.   Email from a family member that confirmed the good news you were looking for a long.
